I just bought ACT! 2008 and tried unsuccessfully to install it on by MAC Book Pro with Parallels 3.0 and windows XP Pro. Tech Support at Sage Software who sells ACT! tells me ACT will not run on this platform. I find this hard to believe. Does anyone know of anyone who has successfully installed ACT! on a Parallels platform? Thanks
What happened during installation? During ACT! 2008 installation I received three error messages in the following sequence: 1. Prereq.Exceptions.KeyDoesn’tExistException: Exception of Type ‘Prereq.Exceptions.KeyDoestntExistException’ was thrown. at Prereq.AccessINI.GetValue(StringKey, StringValueName) at Prereq.Program.Main(String[] args). 2. Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Setup The SQL Server System Configuration Checker cannot be executed due to WMI configuration on the machine BURTSMAC error:21475000034(0x80004002) 3. Feature Transfer Error Error: - 16503 Fatal error during installation. Consult windows installer Help (Msi.chm) or MSDN for more information. The install terminated after this last error.
You should do the next: 1) If you are using build less than 5160, try the same on Parallels Desktop 3.0 build 5160 that is currently available from our site. 2) Describe your virtual machine configuration. Ideally, if you post the configuration file .pvs. 3) Describe you guest operating system in detail: run 'winver' and post output 'about' window. Thank you.
Answers to last question 1. I am using version 3.0 build 5160 for several several weeks now. 2. Virtual Machine configuration: memory 1500MB; hard disk 1; Network adapter:bridged Ethernet; sound; USB controller. 3. See uploaded file for Winver. I attempted to locate and copy the pvs file to answer items two but I could not find a way that worked. thanks, Burt
Thank you for information. We are trying to reproduce this problem. Please, also check this on clean Windows XP installation within new Parallels VM. It's posible you have some windows's system libraries broken.
Burt OD, does the problem take place on your clean Windows XP installation within Parallels? We installed ACT!2008 pefrectly in our environment. If you still have the problem, please, post here your MacBook Pro configuration in detail. Consult with specification. We need one of MA895LL/A, MA896LL/A or MA897LL/A. Thanks.
My Solution I had a similar issue installing MSSQL Server. To solve, I downloaded and ran the Microsoft WMI Diagnostic utility http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...d6-18d1-4d05-b11e-4c64192ae97d&displaylang=en I had errors and the error report told me the last resort to fix was to run "WMIDiag CheckConsistency" to reset the tables. I ran that command, REBOOTED and my installation went off without a hitch. Hope it helps, Mat.
