I am currently having an issue in getting Windows SP3 installed on bootcamp.

    I am running parallels v. 5608 with bootcamp 2.1

I tried using "Configuration Editor- Hard disk 1-Advanced -click Clear" but still get the error"

"The core system file (kernel) used to start this computer is not a Microsoft Windows file. The Service Pack will not be installed. For more information, see Knowledge Base article Q327101 at http://support.microsoft.com"

    Any ideas?

Are you trying to install SP3 from Parallels Desktop?

I suppose you need to check you mentioned article, and then contact Microsoft in this case, when in Boot Camp, Parallels doesn't have any interaction with Windows
