I have an Intel iMac G5 with Leopard 10.5.4, 2.16 GHz and 1 GB ram. With bootcamp and windows xp already installed. After inserting Parallels Install disk and going through the steps, the install hangs with the bar going only 1/8 inch even after leaving overnight. How can I get Parallels installed? Shawn
You cannot install Parallels on non-Intel machine. It requires Intel chip. G5 is old PowerPC chip based machine.
It is an Intel machine! Note in my post. Intel iMac G5 Should you insist, About this Mac States Processoras: 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Try to open Terminal and perform following command sudo /Volumes/Parallels\ Desktop/Install\ Parallels\ Desktop.pkg/Contents/Resources/preflight Note, you will be asked for your password
After typing your command into terminal I get this grep: /Applications/Parallels/Parallels.app/Contents/Info.plist: No such file or directory /Volumes/Parallels Desktop/Install Parallels Desktop.pkg/Contents/Resources/preflight: line 82: /Library/StartupItems/Parallels/Parallels: No such file or directory kextunload: /Library/StartupItems/Parallels/Pvsvnic.kext: no such bundle file exists can't add kext (file access/permissions). How is this possible from a CD?
After walking away and returning a moment later the installer now says installed successfully and networking (2) items not installed. Is all ok now???
CD? Please download build 5608 following link bellow: http://download.parallels.com/v3/en/GA/Parallels-Desktop-5608-Mac-en.dmg and reinstall Parallels Desktop as described in kb http://kb.parallels.com/en/4790
