Installed Boot Camp and got Vista up and running. Installed Parallels and used the Boot Camp install. I got the standard error that required me to modify my PVS by adding disk0s3. I am now getting an error that reads Error 17: File Not Found, Booting 'Enter Command Line', Boot Failed! Press any key to enter command line.

When I enter the command line it goes to a grub command line. My Vista partition also disappears off my desktop when Parallels tries to launch Vista and it comes back when I quit.

I have searched this forum and others but found no answers. Please help.

    Thanks

    yes :(

Same set up as you ... vista via boot camp ...

Vista loads fine when I load it with boot camp ...

Mine loads and runs fine via Boot Camp as well. But I can't even launch it via Parallels. Looks as if our problem is unique.

Still no one? I tried reinstalling Parallels and upgraded to Leopard. Still no luck.

    Hello mergedown and ozmodiar,

First thing you can try is to create a new virtual machine (File -> New -> Custom virtual machine).

If that does not help, please send me your Mac's configuration. This can be done by clicking the Apple icon in the upper left corner, then choosing "About this Mac". There, press "More Info". A system information screen will pop up. Choose File menu, then Save, and save in plaintext format. You can send me the file with a Private Message or attached to your forum post.

    Best regards,
    Xenos

I've got the same problem; tried to upload my system info but failed - do you have an email address where I can send it to?

Hmmm I'm getting an internal server error; even if I navigate to the form via your support pages. any ideas?

iFreak, this seems to be not Parallels issue. However could you let me know your Vista characteristics and send me the output with the .pvs file (Mac HD -> Documents -> Parallels)?

    Best regards,
    Xenos

I'm experiencing the same problem. I installed Boot Camp earlier today, setup a new partition, installed Vista onto it. It works fine using Boot Camp, but I get the same error when I attempt to use Parallels.

EDIT: My vista is a fresh install of Vista Ultimate.

Attached is the pvs file, renamed to .txt because the forum software prevents attaching pvs files.

Output from the Parallels desktop window:

    Booting 'Windows Vista'

    acpi
    Vista Loader 2.1.2

    Done!
    fallback 1
    find --set-root /bootmgr

    Error 17: File not found
    Booting 'Windows NT/2000/XP'

    fallback 2
    find --set-root /ntldr

    Error 17: File not found
    Booting 'Enter Command Line'

Boot failed! Press any key to enter command line.

My Boot Camp is a single 32 gig partition on my iMac's internal hard disk.
I have all Vista updates installed.
Is it the fact I have Vista Ultimate causing the problem?

I just created a new 50 GB Bootcamp Partition using BootCamp in Leopard OS X and install Windows Vista with SP1 on it. It works perfect. Then I tried to run my Vista through Parallels and at start of booting I got the message:
    Booting 'Windows Vista'

    acpi
    Vista Loader 2.1.2

    Done!
    fallback 1
    find --set-root /bootmgr

    Error 17: File not found
    Booting 'Windows NT/2000/XP'

    fallback 2
    find --set-root /ntldr

    Error 17: File not found
    Booting 'Enter Command Line'

Boot failed! Press any key to enter command line.

And I can't run after it.
I reinstalled Vista without SP1 and used 2 updates that were mentioned at post #13. Then I restarted into Mac OS X and tried to run it, but with no luck! :(

Next step I downloaded VMware Fusion 2.0 30 days trial software and tried to run an existing BootCamp Partition with Windwos Vista without SP1 and it works perfectly with VMFusion! I reinstalled Vista with SP1 and tried to run it with VMFusion and againg it works. It is something wrong with Paralles. It doesn't work well with Vista. I got the latest version of Paralles 3.0 build 5608.

    Any solution?????
