    Thank you so much for you help - you are my last hope..!!

    - To make a backup was no problem - I have cloned the VM

    But if i start XP from CD i got a problem :

    - The booting from the CD starts - and then comes the message : "Setup untersucht die Hardwareeinstellungen des Computers" something like "setup search for Hardware-Settings of this PC"

    - And then nothing more happens - the windows are simply black....

    It just looks like you have no virtual HD associated with your machine, I know this sounds like a stupid question but, is the .hdd in the machine's folder and is it correctly associated in the preferences.

    And one more step, could you try to create ISO image
    1. Insert CD/DVD source

    2. Start Terminal from Applications/Utilities, you can then determine the device that is you CD/DVD drive using the following command:

    $ drutil status
    Vendor Product Rev
    MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-835E GAND

    Type: DVD-ROM Name: /dev/disk1
    Cur Write: 8x DVD Sessions: 1
    Max Write: 8x DVD Tracks: 1
    Overwritable: 00:00:00 blocks: 0 / 0.00MB / 0.00MiB
    Space Free: 00:00:00 blocks: 0 / 0.00MB / 0.00MiB
    Space Used: 364:08:27 blocks: 1638627 / 3.36GB / 3.13GiB
    Writability:
    Book Type: DVD-ROM

    3. Umount the disk with the following command:

    $ diskutil unmountDisk /dev/disk1
    Disk /dev/disk1 unmounted

    4. Create the ISO file with the dd utility (may take some time):

    $ dd if=/dev/disk1 of=file.iso bs=2048

    5. Test the ISO image by mounting the new file (or open with Finder):

    $ hdid file.iso

    Hello again....

    For my understanding :

    - I make a iso.image from the XP Boot CD ,
    - So that i can use that image to boot with it directly from my mac without the cd-rom...

    And after i boot with this iso image i try to repair my old XP Version ( which was my primary problem )

    Because i have try to make a iso.file from another XP Boot CD - and i get the same error...

    And i am sure both XP boot CD`S are not corrupt...

    So perhaps i have understood something wrong...
