I'm trying to resize a HDD file and need to change my VM profile to boot from a copied HDD. In configuration editor I only see the capability of changing sequence (HD, CD, Floppy...etc.). How do I specify which HDD to use for boot? Thanks!
Ok OK. I switched the paths in Configuration with HD 1 directed to the copy hdd and HD 3 directed to the original hdd that I have resized using Image tools. (I have a HD 2 that stores data only) Now I get the following configuration error: Error occurred while trying to interact with Parallels driver! Parallels Desktop is either not installed or/and configured or has integrity problems, which prevent it from operating properly. Please reinstall the Parallels Desktop. Any suggestions? Your assistance is appreciated.
Tried that--Parallels launches, then gives me the same error before the VM starts up: Error occurred while trying to interact with Parallels driver! Parallels Desktop is either not installed or/and configured or has integrity problems, which prevent it from operating properly. Please reinstall the Parallels Desktop.
Try following: In configuration Editor - Hard Disk 1 - change path to Hard disk to point to current location try to start again
Good news. I was finally able to get around the error cited above by restarting my computer and launching the VM by clicking on the pvs file in the Virtual Machine folder (usually located in /library/parallels/). Then I discovered that DISKPART would not extend a volume if it contained a System Pagefile. This is reflected in the "Info" column when you enter LIST VOLUME in the command prompt after accessing DISKPART. If the hdd you want to extend has a system pagefile on it, DISKPART>EXTEND will fail. Here is how you move/remove a pagefile in Windows XP: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307886 Once I moved the pagefile from the volume I wanted to extend, DISKPART readily extended the volume per instructions found elsewhere in this forum. After swapping back the extended drive for my temporary boot drive, I now have 124 GB C: drive. Thanks for the great support.
