    Dear Community,

I was poking along printing just fine to the default printer under OS X 10.5.4 until I updated to Parallels Build 5600 a couple of days ago. I don't know whether that has anything to do with my problem or not, but it's the only thing I can think of that's changed. The VM's OS is Win98SE, which I'm forced to use in part because it can run some legacy DOS apps better than anything newer.

On the VM's side of things, I can see that print jobs appear in the queue, then disappear as they're sent to the Mac side. On the Mac side, I see the printer's icon bouncing in the dock, but nothing further happens. (The printer prints Mac jobs just fine.)

Here's what the console says right after the print job is sent:

I [05/Sep/2008:12:53:40 -0500] [Job 776] Adding start banner page "none".
    I [05/Sep/2008:12:53:40 -0500] [Job 776] Adding job file of type application/postscript.
I [05/Sep/2008:12:53:40 -0500] [Job 776] Adding end banner page "none".
    I [05/Sep/2008:12:53:40 -0500] [Job 776] Queued on "TOSHIBA_e_STUDIO3500c_05227040" by "dave".
    I [05/Sep/2008:12:53:40 -0500] [Job 776] Started filter /usr/libexec/cups/filter/pstops (PID 1990)
    I [05/Sep/2008:12:53:40 -0500] [Job 776] Started filter /Library/Printers/toshiba/filter/est3510_Authentication_and_CoverPages (PID 1991)
    I [05/Sep/2008:12:53:40 -0500] [Job 776] Started backend /usr/libexec/cups/backend/mdns (PID 1992)
    I [05/Sep/2008:12:53:47 -0500] [Job 776] Completed successfully.

In spite of "completing successfully," though, nothing happens, and the Printer Proxy is empty! Most frustrating!

    Any ideas? (Thank you!)

John, thank you so much for replying to my question. In high anticipation, I carefully followed every step of your instructions. Unfortunately, it was not to be...and I still have the same problem.

Would you happen to have any further suggestions I might try? Thank you.

Thank you, John. Yes, that's how I was able to print to my Mac printer prior to the installation of Build 5600. That's how I'm connected now, as I type this. But to my chagrin, I still can't get any output from the printer!

I don't know what's happened. I installed Build 5608 as you directed...so I can't blame this on Build 5600. But still, I can't print from Parallels, and this is becoming increasingly annoying. I am very open to being helped!!

Did you remove all other printers and drivers from Windows?

Thank you for staying with this issue, John. I deleted the old VM and reinstalled Win98SE from scratch. Added the new printer driver, etc. Held my breath and tried to print a test page...no joy.

I hope there's a next step...but I can't imagine what it would be. There's got to be a solution to this!

(And yes, I tried more than once to print the test page.)

(And yes, I reinstalled the driver on the Mac side.)

Thank you, John. Can you tell me what "create ticket in support" means? Will this cost me money?
