Parallels won't install Windows XP Pro

I got Parallels Desktop 3.0 installed on my MacBook Pro v. 10.4.11. When I tried to install Windows XP Professional x64, this error message popped up on the Parallels Desktop "Attempting to load an x64 operating system, however this CPU is not compatible with x64 mode. Please install a 32-bit x86 operating system. Setup cannot continue. Press any key to exit." How do I fix this?

Still not working w/ 32bit Windows XP Pro

Ok I got the 32-bit version of Windows XP Pro SP2. It starts loading it, and everything seems to be going really well, and then it says that it is restarting the computer (meaning it is restarting the virtual machine). So it "reboots" and then it starts loading from the disk again. It just keeps doing this over and over and over. Does anyone know what is going on?

 

I assume that you're trying to install new VM , and not trying to install Windows in VM based on Boot Camp
Delete that VM folder from Documents/Parallels and create new VM using Custom installation

 

It worked! Thank you! I am now having another problem, though. I now have gotten to the Windows XP Licensing Agreement screen and when I try to press F8 to agree to the terms I get no response. I don't think that it is frozen, though, because whenever I press esc to say "I don't agree" it responds and gets me back to the black screen.

 

Please send F8 using menu Actions - Send Keys - F8

 

The send keys doesn't have an F8 option, if that is what you are refering to. I, also, tried selecting ctrl+alt+del and right shift+left shift from the send keys menu and then typing the commands I selected and then pressing F8, and that didn't work. Still stumped. :I

Hi I read through this post among many others, Parallels will not recognize my windows xp home edition disk. I have tried creating a disk image in my utility and making the disk a .dmg file and it still does not work. It boots the cd but then just basically stops and constantly says 39 minutes left. You told lala to go into documents/parallels to fix well my documents folder only has my documents no parallels, parallels is in my APPS folder. By the way its parallels 3.0. Please helppp

It seems that VT-X support for Virtual Machine is currently disabled.
Launch Parallels Desktop for Mac, select the virtual machine and click the Acceleration link in the Configuration page. Make sure that the Enable Intel VT-x support option is selected.
