I upgraded from RC1 to RC2 and WinXP did not load when starting the VM. I uninstalled RC2 with the uninstall script in the disk image, reinstalled RC1, reinstalled WinXP, and it worked fine. Upgraded to RC2 again, and again no go. Just a blank black screen - the DOS underline cursor does not even blink. Any thoughts? Can I _completely_ uninstall somehow and just start from scratch with RC2?

blank screen non flashing cursor with RC2

I also experienced the same issue. I had to re-install the previous version (desktop 1832) followed by a reboot. Then the guest OS was able to boot up.
I'll wait until the next release to see if that release will solve the problem.

Also, I am not able to print from my PIXMA MP500 printer, but will post under USB problems.

    <sigh> me too

Well, I guess I am glad to know I am not alone. I too had to downgrade to RC1 to get the VM to launch. I really hope I can run the final release....

GA release 1848 still does not load windows xp (solid cursor)

The last release that is working for me is 1832. Release 1842 and 1848 (GA release) does not work. When selecting the "run" button, a black screen appears with a solid (non blinking) cursor. When I select "stop" button it warns that I may lose unsaved data.

I reinstalled 1832 and rebooted like before, then an error message "cannot communicate with drivers, please restart or reinstall if persists". One more reinstall without a reboot was successful with 1832.

What a waste of money, I cannot even run this on versions later than 1832 or print from my Cannon Pixma MP500 in any version  Parallels team, please open a defect report and investigate

    Final release works for me

Hi dmihlhauser - the symptoms you describe are exactly what I saw. Thanks for the tip on RC1 - that did work for me.

I successfully installed the final release (1848) today. I first tried just installing FR over RC1 (1832). But it did not update the version number. So, I uninstalled 1832 (a little nervously, because I wondered if I would have to reinstall Windows yet again...) and then installed the final release. Worked fine, and I did not have to reinstall Windows. Phew!

    Hi GlennB,
Thanks for the tip. I uninstalled and installed the new version, but still has the same symptoms. 2 reinstalls of the old one to make it work again. sigh...I guess I'll keep trying everytime a new release is posted.

    Thanks.

    Finally fixed

Build 1970 apparently solved the problem and now is working fine:)
