    Hi,

I've activated a genuine Winxp SP2 cd, but recently had my logic board replaced on my MPB, then upgraded hard drive.

I would suspect Windows activation would now fail as its inherently, a different pc/vm.

Would I need another product key? Or could i just explain this to MS, and everything should be fine.

if you activated Windows XP in Virtual Machine, you will not be asked again for activation.
Emulated hardware in VM is the same, it doesn't matter where you have your VM

If this is Boot Camp Windows (also) then a logic board replacement for the same kind of logic board and hard disk replacement shouldn't trigger Windows Activation, and if it does, you won't need to explain to MS, running the Genuine Advantage app should be enough.

    Too many activations

I've activated WinXP too many times, and have to call MS.. So if I told then I had replaced my hard drive and logic board, do you think it would still be ok ?

Yes, there should be no problem, this limitation is removed in Windows Vista, but Microsoft didn't remove this from Windows XP, but they should provide you activation when you call

Remember, in order too avoid too many activations, only activate after you're done with all hardware and drivers installation, and after you've installed Parallels Tools. You have some days to activate since the moment you get the warning, so there's no need to rush, ignore it, install what you need to install, reboot as needed, and only then activate.
