    Bonjour,

I have lost internet connections running Firefox in Windows XP With Parallels built 5582.
All that started when Windows seemed to have got a virus - anyway, Windows Startup button sitting in top left corner of the screen ..., with application shortcut icons going flashing some time to time.
Anyway in Mac OS X Leopard Preferences, for a while I had put "Off" Built-in Ethernet, Parallels Host-Guest, and Parallels NAT - all red -, and then back again to green connected : with internet connections in the Mac.

By this time I installed an antivirus - Spyware Doctor with Antivirus -, I could ran it several times and got the, usual in Windows, antivirus library : that meant I had the internet connection, but no more internet connection now.

In Mac, Network Preferences/Parallels Host-Guest and Parallels NAT are all DHCP with "currently active" IP addresses set.
In Parallels Preferences, Network Adapter is connected (Shared networking), and I had found Port forwarding infos empty.

    Many thanks for your help.

From Mac OS side everything is OK ,
    Could you please perform
    Start -run -type cmd

    and ipconfig /all

Also is there any antivirus on Windows, this may prevent connection (and firewalls like Zone Alarm)

    John,

Sorry for the delay - we have not the same Sun.

I can't run "Start -run -type" ( Windows XP 5.1.26 does not recognize ).

Anyway, inspired by a similar discussion in the forum ( Still - <something like "no internet connection"> ), in Parallels VM configuration I removed, then added Network adapter ..., and internet connection was there !

I had also removed the antivirus : but I need one - anyway. Do you mean that as long as an antivirus will be installed there will not the the possibility to have an internet connection ? For my usage of Windows in Parallels, I don't need so much an internet connection in Windows as long as I have an internet connection on the Mac, so viruses are less the case, but should I want this internet connection in Windows, how should I do without an antivirus ?

Thanks very much for the help you provide,

    fr6

    John,

    ipconfig /all => :
    Nom de l'hôte . . . . . . . . . . : WINLSD
    Suffixe DNS principal . . . . . . :
    Type de noud . . . . . . . . . . : Inconnu
    Routage IP activé . . . . . . . . : Non
    Proxy WINS activé . . . . . . . . : Non

Carte Ethernet Connexion au réseau local:

Suffixe DNS propre à la connexion :
    Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Parallels Network Adapter
    Adresse physique . . . . . . . . .: 00-1C-42-A7-D6-5B
    DHCP activé. . . . . . . . . . . : Oui
    Configuration automatique activée . . . . : Oui
    Adresse IP. . . . . . . . .*. . . : 10.211.55.6
    Masque de sous-réseau . . .*. . . : 255.255.255.0
    Passerelle par défaut . . .*. . . : 10.211.55.1
    Serveur DHCP. . . . . . . . . . . : 10.211.55.1
    Serveurs DNS . . . . . . . . . . : 10.211.55.1
    Bail obtenu . . . . . . . .*. . . : dimanche 24 août 2008 16:08:16
    Bail expirant . . . . . . .*. . . : dimanche 31 août 2008 16:08:16

But I don't know how/where to launch this command "Start -select Run -type" ( same window as above or "Run" window ? Anyway not recognized in both ).

Everything is correct, so I suppose only antivirus or Firewall can prevent connection
    Norton, Kaspersky, Zone Alarm

    John,

OK, "it" works, it works because I removed every antiviruses I had tentatively installed, and as soon as I install an antivirus I have no longer any internet connection. Then I know what to do : remove it, Edit Parallels VM configuration where I remove the Network adapter, quit and relaunch Parallels and Add the Network Adapter. Then got internet connection.

But how can I live in Windows without an antivirus ?

    Merci,

    fr6
