I am having troubles with my Parallels (3.0). I can't share files between mac os and guest os and I cant get the Mouse Synchronization to work. I have installed Parallels Tools and I have enabled both shared folders and mouse synchronization but it doesn't work. I get a folder on desktop called "shared parallels folders" but when I try to open them I get a error that says: ".psf is available. You might not have permission to use this resource. Ask the administrator of the server about help. The name of the network provider is not guilty" (I have translated this from swedish so i apologize for the bad english....)

I hope someone can help so I won't have to install parallels again.

    Please try following steps
    1. Reinstall Parallels Tools as described bellow
To reinstall Parallels Tools, do the following:

    1. Launch your Windows XP guest OS.

    2. Open Add/Remove programs control panel in Windows and remove Parallels Tools if present.

    3. Reboot Windows XP guest OS.

    4. Install Parallels Tools using "Install Parallels Tools" menu item in the Action menu of the Parallels Desktop application.

    5. Reboot Windows.

    2. Please unmount all Network Disks in Windows, right click -disconnect
    3. Please delete shortcut "shared parallels folders" from Desktop and from C:\Program Files\Parallels\Parallels Tools
    Restart VM

I followed the directions in the above post, and when I start windows XP, it flashes the blue screen, then asks me how I want to boot - Normal Boot does not work and returns to the blue screen, so each time I have to use Last Known WOrking Configuration. obviously after that, mouse synchronization does not work.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled parallels.

Uninstalled parallel tools from XP and reinstalled and it still does not work.

mouse synchronization is not working. I have to ctrl+option to release parallels. I install parallel tools and enable mouse synchronization and it still does not work.

I uninstalled parallels and reinstalled it.

Boot up XP and install parallel tools. Mouse synchronization does not work.
I uninstall parallel tools and reboot XP. I reinstall parallel tools (complete install) and reboot XP. At this point, I get a message in white text on a black background.
We apologize for the inconvenience but windows did not start succesfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this.

    Then it lists

    safe mode
    safe mode with newtorking
    safe mode with command prompt

    last know good configuration

    start windows normally.

If i select start windows normally, it just loops back to the same error page. If I go to the last known good configuration, it boots up XP but mouse synchronization is still not working.

    Using parallels 3 build 5608
Master OS is OSX 10.5.4 on a mac pro quad 2.6 with 5gb of ram. Pushing 2 GB of that to XP in parallels. Dual monitors coming from single video card, parallels in full screen view on one monitor.

I am attempting now to boot into safe mode to uninstall parallel tools, will reboot back into safe mode and reinstall parallel tools.

    ok an Update.

I now have mouse synchronization working. I reinstalled Steer Mouse in OSX to handle the mouse driver, and then uninstalled/reinstalled parallel tools and it appears to be working as expected now. I did a custom install on Parallel Tools, opting out of everything except for the network driver and mouse synchronization.

I've now reinstalled Parallel Tools with all features, and the only thing I see is that upon booting XP, it asks me which profile I want to use (there is only one option, called Profile 1). I choose that and everything is working again.

Conclusion - the culprit was Steer Mouse. (Expose was not working in OSX either until I reinstalled Steer Mouse so beware - you need that application, but its roots go deep into OSX).

    Looks like virus infection
dump_atapi.sys is generating when something suspicious is going on
