I have MBR and 3 partitions thus:
$ diskutil list
/dev/disk0
#: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER
0: FDisk_partition_scheme *298.1 Gi disk0
1: Apple_HFS OSX 100.1 Gi disk0s1
2: DOS_FAT_32 ETC 100.0 Gi disk0s2
3: Windows_NTFS 98.0 Gi disk0s3
the FAT one is there so I can have data which both the Windows and OSX partitions can both see.
XP is installed on the last partition.
If I reformat the FAT partition with say HFS, then parallels works with bootcamp automatically.
If I have it formatted with FAT, then I have manually edit the pvs file and put in the disk data (which I did).
But it simply doesnt work!!!
I notice that as parallels is starting the VM, the desktop icon for the XP NTFS partion (called helpfully "Untitled" - anyone know how to change it?), disappears for a couple of seconds, just as the above error message comes up.
So parallels appears to be unmounting the drive, then complaining that the drive cannot be accessed, then remounting it.
Also odd, is that if I reformat my middle partition to HFS, to get it working (until I can find a solution to this problem), the XP home drive is f, not c!!! No idea how that happened. All I did was boot the mac from XP CD, and install XP as normal on the last (3rd) partition.
Anyone else got the same problem?
Its a MBPro, 1 internal HD, nothing external, XP SP2.
Here is the mount output:
/dev/disk0s1 on / (hfs, local, journaled)
devfs on /dev (devfs, local)
fdesc on /dev (fdesc, union)
map -hosts on /net (autofs, automounted)
map auto_home on /home (autofs, automounted)
/dev/disk0s2 on /Volumes/ETC (msdos, asynchronous, local, noowners)
/dev/disk0s3 on /Volumes/Untitled (ntfs, local, read-only, noowners)
Here is my complete PVS file:
