After starting up Parallels and Windows XP, I get the following error message:

    System extension cannot be used

The system extension /Library/Filesystems/fusefs.fs/Support/fusefs.kext was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it or contacting the products vendor for an update.

I clicked the link, downloaded and successfully installed the file, but no luck, upon a system reboot and restarting Parallels, the same error message came up. Any other thoughts?

I've successfully upgraded to build 5608, so that problem is fixed, but I still get that same Mac OS X error message when I start up Parallels:

    "System extension cannot be used

The system extension /Library/Filesystems/fusefs.fs/Support/fusefs.kext was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it or contacting the products vendor for an update."

Looks like some software on Mac OS side prevents installation, antivirus, tools etc.
Without profile file it is hard to say

I guess I'm looking for advice on where to go next. I don't have an anti-virus software (other than anything native to Mac OS). Where should I look for a solution?

I guess you have a ticket in support, and you were asked to provide logs,
If not create ticket in support and let me know id, you will be asked about details

Actaully I don't have a ticket in support, but it sounds like that's your advice on what to do next. Thanks for the help. I'll go that direction.
