I've a MAC with leopard and parallels desktop + windows XP... now I would like to allow my MAC (or windows XP) to see the "windows domain" of my company network, somebody can help me? Thanks
I haven't figured out how to get my mac to log on to the windows domain at work, but I use XP through Parallels on my mac with the domain every day. You just have to be connected to the network at work. You need to change the network settings in XP from workgroup to domain (Right Click on My Computer, Properties, Computer Name, the click on the Change button. You will probably need a network admin password to add the computer to the domain (maybe not depending on the security policies in place). You will end up with a new user account and you most likely will not be able to see all of the Start Menu, Installed programs etc unless you specifically installed them for "all users". This only works with XP Pro as XP Home doesn't support joining a domain.
Make sure you are using Bridged Ethernet, and assign settings by DHCP if you have Windows DHCP in Network or manually , just make sure that DNS servers are pointing to AD DNS servers
Thanks for help me!!! Can you tell me the steps for very/configure my MACbook?? I still have the same problem.... is there a firewall in Leopard or in Parallels... if not, can you tell me the steps?? Thanks!!!!
Steps are - Switch to Bridged Ethernet - Parallels Desktop for Mac user guide from http://www.parallels.com/en/download/file/doc/Parallels_Desktop_for_Mac_User_Guide.pdf on page 157 - if DHCP make sure that Network adapter is configured to get IP settings by DHCP - if manually set IP for your LAN and make sure DNS servers are those pointing to Domain COntroller correctly
