I'm a PC user of moderate+ experience trying to help a Mac Friend of minimal experience to use Parallels Desktop on a MacPro for Windows XP. The main problem was getting the printer to work with the Windows program and application software. With the considerable help of an experienced Mac user (who is not readily available) success was achieved and she has been happily printing from Windows and Quick Books for several months. Her connection is wireless via Airport.

Suddenly yesterday, after printing 2 reports, in the middle of the 3rd one, the printer stalled and would not continue. The printer itself is fine - works perfectly with her husbands Imac, not out of ink or paper etc. She appears to be able to communicate with the printer - commands show up in the queue - the "cancel printing" function works, the maintenance screens from the Windows OS appear to work but every command to "Print" results in seeming to start but then ending in an error.

The same thing happens also when trying to print from Windows notebook.

Any help or suggestions as to where to go for help would be much appreciated.

Try just restart Mac OS, and check

Actually we did try that first thing with no success but went back into the Windows OS to try printing both from Quick Books and Notepad.

Today it occured to me that we should try printing from Mac OS, using Word for Mac, and there is the same problem. The message gets to the printer and the document into the queue but upon "opening" the printer window the Mac keeps "looking for the printer" but never finds it. I don't know Mac well enough to deal with that. Every designation that I can see seems to be correct.

I now think the problem may be with the Mac printer installation gone awry rather than with Parallels but am afraid to uninstall and reinstall the printer on the Mac.

    Thanks
