Hi! First my parallels version is from June 2006.

    Now 2 questions:

    - I am trying to pass some information to the Virtual Machine (VM) through a UBS pen drive, I tried with two different ones but it doens't work... It gives me the following error message:
"USB device you are trying to connect to the virtual machine is being used by another process. Wait 5-10 seconds, then try to connect the device again. If this does not help, find the application that blocked up the device and disconnect it manually."
Well I had just turned on the Mac and the VM, then introduced the pen drive, therefore I am not using the pen drive for anything... When I turn on Parallels there is an area regarding USB, I went there to check and it is "USB Enabled" and "Autoconnect on", so I think it should work... What am I doing wrong?

    - I know that virus are never a problem for Mac, but are they now that I have Parallels with a VM with Windows XP installed? Should I install an anti-virus in that Windows?

Thank you very much for all the help you can give me!

    Best regards,

    João Terra

The USB drive you were trying to connect to your WinXP VM was probably mounted to your Mac. Look at your Mac Desktop if you see a drive mounted then eject it. Then you will be able to connect to your WinXP VM.

    Hi,

As for second question: windows running under Parallels is still a regular Windows and it can be infected by viruses, so yes it is better to have anti virus installed in it. You can for example try Kaspersky anti virus which can be installed directly from Parallels: Actions > Install Kaspersky.
Just in case here is an article from Parallels knowledge base on this virus topic:
