Just bought boxed version of Parallels 3.0, version 3186. Most current update appears to be 5608. But have not been able to successfully install that update (disk serial number won't validate when I attempt to install the update. ) Can find nothing on site about this topic and can't seem to get any answer from Parallels staff. Can someone PLEASE advise on proper steps to update my 3186 version?!?!?! I have now uninstalled 3186 cause it won't work anymore either. I am lost on what to do next. Thanks Gary
You can freely update up to this version http://www.parallels.com/en/download/file/en/GA/Parallels-Desktop-3224-Mac-en.dmg
Thanks for the referral. Is there someplace on this website where I can find an explanation of Parallel's update and upgrade policies ? I find it strange that a full retail copy of the program (3186)-less than a week old- is apparently NOT eligible for the latest update (5608). At what point does a "free update" become a "you gotta pay for it" upgrade?! I'd appreciate any enlightenment you can provide. Gary
I will try to describe difference, but if you want more details, please contact online sales support team Versions up to 3xxx are version 2.5 Versions from 4xxx and up to current 5608 are version 3.x Upgrade from 2.5 to 3 is paid upgrade
Gary, where did you buy Parallels? If i where you i return it and asked the latest version off parallels !!!!!
Thanks! My copy was represented as 3.0....and obviously it's not. Will see if I can get some satisfaction on this. Parallels oughta put some kind of sticker on the box denoting version. Hard for even the retailer to know which version he's selling as it is now. Thanks again.
After some sharp comments on both sides, vendor admitted they mistakenly shipped me an old copy....but were very upset that I had opened the box. Seems it was MY responsibility to know that "3.0" should be on the box and therefore realize I had the wrong product before opening and registering!!!!! Of course...it's all my fault. But I guess it's OK that their guy packing the order didn't know there should be a big "3.0" on the box!! Jeeez! Thanks for your help.....but things sure would've been easier if Parallels had printed the version number on the box, or the disk or the envelope. If it hadn't been for this forum, I still wouldn't know what version I had. Gary
