I am able to find a winxp.hdd file in my Macintosh HD/users/myname/documents/parallels/Microsoft XP/winxp.hdd when trying to resize my Windows partition.

Unfortunately, I get the error "the name is not valid when referring to the existing folder object. Please specify another name for the image file.

All I want to do is increase my partition size without reinstalling windows. Otherwise, it works fine in Parallels.

    Thanks
    Larry

Sorry, but how do you backup first? What exact steps? When you go to the subdirectory you mentioned, what is the originating folder? MacHD, Documents, Parallels? Exactly where do I start?

    Thanks

Copy your VM folder from Documents/Parallels/<VM name> to somewhere (external USB), on Desktop etc, just make sure you have enough place
