    Hi

I installed Civilization IV in a Parallels XP VM today and though it appears to load OK, it bugs out when trying to switch to the menu screen (it loads things using a splash screen style box). As part of the installation, it installed Direct X 9 and something tells me that is a bad thing though I can't remember where I saw it. Suffice to say that while every other windows app works just fine this one doesn't and I was wondering if it had something to do with the fact that Parallels handles the graphics and maybe Direct X screws that up/

In any case, I would welcome any ideas you have of things to try.

    Thanks in advance

    David

The Parallels release notes for the latest version only lists Civilization III as compatible. Perhaps your game requires a later version of DirectX than is supported

Ho hum - thanks for that. I couldn't get the Mac version to run properly on my machine so I sold that thinking "I can always play the PC version in a VM". Oh well, I'll have to limit that to when I'm at home using my Windows laptop rather than out in the wide world with the Mac!

    Cheers
