I'm attempting to upgrade Parallels 2.5 (build 3214) to 3.0 (build 5584) on my 17" iMac (white 2.16 core 2 duo) w/ 2GB ram and 250GB hard drive. I'm running Mac OS X 10.5.2 I've got a boot camp partition with win xp sp3.

It has been a long time since I've used parallels. I purchased the 3.0 upgrade last fall but didn't try to install it until recently. When I run the installer, it gets to "Preparing Parallels Desktop: Running Parallels Desktop Installer Script" and goes no further. I started it running, went to sleep and when I came back it was still at the same exact spot.

I tried running the uninstaller but it says I don't have Parallels Desktop installed on my computer.

I tried installing in Safe Mode. No Dice.

    Should I manually uninstall 2.5?

    Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

In the Macs System Preferences, Open Sharing and turn off Internet Sharing. If it is not on then turn it on and then off again. Try to install 3.0 again

That seemed to do the trick. Thanks!
