Anyone out there? We are looking to salvage major files that are seemingly lost after "revert[ing] to snapshot". How do we undo this action or jump to current or most recent state? The revert jumped back to Sept 2007 and every file we created since then has been lost ... any help would be much, much, much appreciated! Thanks!
Well, unless you created another snapshot, or happen to have TimeMachine or another back-up program, I think you are sunk.
Anything else? I appreciate your reply. We are not using TimeMachine or any other backup feature other than the occasional flash drive .... So just to confirm, there is absolutely no way a user can undo a "revert to snapshot" action or there is no trash where the files/changes are temporarily housed/saved ...? Shouldn't there be some sort of back up where files that are lost or that are not captured in a snapshot are saved in some temp folder until a user decides to completely, 100% remove all traces of the files ....? Much like a recycle bin? Thanks so much, your help is needed and the files are crucial.
If there is a way, I am not aware of it. As a general policy, copying the disk images is pretty easy and should be implemented into whatever your companies back-up procedure is.
Hello, is that really true that if you revert to snapshot then you can't go back to the orignial image? I am still using version 3 and accidently pressed the "Revert to snapshot" button and I had only taken one snapshot back in April 2008 and law and behold all my email from 2008 - 2010 was deleted. I look at this as a flaw in the program but not an asset. I am using POP email address. Does anyone know a solution to this ?
If simalar to vmware 7.. Had same problem in Vmware 7 edited the .vmx file and removed lines with the term "snapshot" also deleted lines that refered to it.
