    Hi. I've been trying to reduce the size of my ever-growing .hdd file. In doing so, I've combed through various threads and have tried a few different things. For starters, using Parallels Image Tool, I merged my snapshots (though curiously, it still displays multiple items in Snapshot Manager -- is this correct?). Next, I set about running Parallels Compressor. Compressor ran through its first pass and prompted an OS restart. It then began its second pass. After some time passed, I got the following error message: "Process of compacting of the virtual hard disk blahblahblah/Documents/Parallels/Windows XP/winxp.hdd was abnormally terminated due to the unrecoverable error." After I click 'ok', it then reads "During disk(s) compacting an error has occured. Task has been aborted. Click Finish to exit Parallels Compressor."

    I've restarted my MacOS and Parallels OS and retried twice now but have gotten the same error messages each time. Any ideas as to why I'm unable to compress properly?

    BTW, I'm running Parallels Desktop v3.0 Build 5582.0 on a MacBookPro running on Tiger v10.4.11.

    Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

    Hello Stu424,

    Thank you for your report. Could you let me see another screenshot?
    Please right click the .hdd file from your VM folder and choose "Show package contents", make a screenshot.

    Try the following: add 1 MB to your VM RAM and run the Compressor again.

    Best regards,
    Xenos

    Hi Xenos,

    Thanks for the response -- sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I tried increasing my VM RAM as you suggested and ran Compressor again, but to no avail.

    Per your request, here's a screen shot of the package contents of my .hdd file. I'm also attaching a screen grab of my memory options.

    Please let me know where to go from here.

    Thanks!

    Please create ticket in support queue and provide information bellow

    1. .log files of Parallels Transporter and Parallels Transporter Agent from both operations systems:
    * Mac: Users/<user name>/Library/Logs/Parallels/transporter_cl.log
    * Linux: ~/transporter_ag.log and ~/transporter_cl.log for example,
    * Windows: %TEMP%\Parallels Transporter\transporter_xx.log (enable "Show hidden files and folders" in the folder options in order to see hidden log). For example:
    o for Windows XP, 2000, 2003: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Temp\Parallels Transporter\transporter_xx.log
    o for Vista: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp\Parallels Transporter\transporter_xx.log
    2. Screenshot of Control Panel -> Performance and Maintenance -> Administrative Tools -> Computer management (on left side of the window) from transported system;
    3. Information about file system type on the external drive, if the customer uses external drive to copy transported VM to Mac HD.
