Hi all, I am having problems and am trying to resolve them. I want to reinstall MAC OSX 10.5.2 but currerntly Pll's crashes whenever I try to create a snapshot. When moving attachments from outlook to explorer Pll's will crash. I get kernel panics I do not know if they are related to Pll's. However the bug fixes with 5584 do not all seem to solve the problems. I am having kernel panics, crashes and cannot create a snapshot. This makes me feel very insecure. I have gone through some of the threads and found that other people are having similar problems. I need solutions. I use all updated versions that are not beta. I will not use beta versions.
Hello Mawa_73527, Could you let me see the kernel panic log (/Library/Logs/panic.log)? Best regards, Xenos
Hi as a Newbie to the Mac I was wrong. I did not get kernelpanics. But my pll's crashes very often. This happened since 10.5.2 more frequently. Howevr I am a bit worried about these crashes several crashes a day. And as I stated earlier I am trying to make asnpshot and this is not working at all. pll's will crash immediatly when I press the button. Can I move the win hdd to another partition? If so how can I do this? I want to reinstall the mac OSX 10.5 without having toreinstall windows.
Mawa_73527, how much RAM is allocated to your virtual machine? (Check in Configuration Editor, Memory section). How much RAM is allocated to Parallels? (See Parallels Desktop Preferences, Memory tab). What is your Mac RAM? I would appreciate if you could let me see a crash log: ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/Parallels.crash.log from the Mac side. To make a backup of your VM you should just copy the VM folder (or only .hdd and .pvs files from this folder) on any data storage. When you reinstall Mac OS X you can copy these files back to your Mac and launch your VM again. Best regards, Xenos
ram physical and allocated Hi Xenos, my mac pro has 9 GB physical ram. Of this I allocated 2GB ram for Pll's. Is this info enough? Regards, Matthias
Matthias, thank you very much for the information. The crashes are caused by sound drivers conflict. You should either disable Sound device in your VM Configuration Editor or uninstall Intel(r) 82801 BA/BAM AC'97 Audio Controller in Devices Manager (Control Panel -> System -> Hardware). This is a known issue and our developers are working to fix it. Please sorry for the inconvenience caused. I would recommend you to decrease the amount of memory allocated to Parallels under 1384 MB, for example (in this case make sure that the VM RAM is not exceeding 1108 MB). Parallels needs an integral file of free space to operate. So if too much memory is allocated to Parallels it might be unable to find enough space. Best regards, Xenos
OK, I disabled the sound altogether. Memory allocated to Parallels is set 1024 MB. I will let you know how this works in a day or two!
Hi, I tried to create a snpshot today after I had disabled my sound. Pll's crashed. The crash report is attached.
