It looks like Parallels supports up to OpenGL 4.1 (https://kb.parallels.com/115487) and I was wondering if support for OpenGL 4.3 would be implemented?
I don't like to compare this to VMware Fusion but it appears to have support already so I'm hoping this will be added in the near future to Parallels. (unfortunately OpenGL 4.3 is required for my purpose which is why I'm asking)

    Hello,
Could you provide us with more detail for your use case for OpenGL4.3.
    Thank you.

I'm specifically hoping to run the Ironwail Quake source port (https://github.com/andrei-drexler/ironwail) which requires it.
However, I also see others requesting this feature for Blender (3D modeling) and other applications I believe.

Just adding in here - blender changed its minimum requirements from to 4.3 in the latest version - would be good if it can be supported in the next release cycle

Hello! also just adding in here. I use show lighting design software with 3D preview. It requires openGL and today only allows it to be used in its most basic viewing quality. Please we need openGL updated urgently!! Please....
I leave these links about the software in question in case it is usefull
    Thanks!!

I wanted to try running nTop (formerly nTopology) but it requires OpenGL 4.3 as well - have there been any plans to add support for OpenGL 4.3+?

    Hello,

following up on this. many design and rendering tools now require min OpenGL of 4.3, I am using nTop design software that can not be installed unless the version for opnGL is increased to 4.3, any plans to implement this upgrade ?

    Hi everyone,

It's disappointing to see that after several years, Parallels Desktop is still limited to OpenGL 4.1 support.

I've been considering purchasing Parallels for over two years, but this outdated limitation is a dealbreaker. On my M1 Max MacBook Pro, I was hoping to run software like Blender, SketchUp, and even some modern games, many of which require OpenGL 4.5 or higher. Unfortunately, Parallels falls short, making it unsuitable for these use cases.

At this point, it seems clear that no significant progress is being made in this area. It's unfortunate because Parallels is otherwise an excellent product, but this limitation has pushed me to explore alternatives.

If anyone has suggestions for virtualization solutions that work well on Apple Silicon Macs and support OpenGL 4.5+ (or better), I'd love to hear them. It's frustrating to consider switching to options like VMware Fusion, which may not be as seamless, but proper OpenGL support is non-negotiable for me.

Thanks in advance for your recommendations,

I just bought Parallels Desktop to play one specific game - Foundation.
As a result, I wasted £100 for Parallels, another £30 for the game, and 3 hours of my weekend to figure out if there is a way to patch the system/game to make it work.
No luck due to unsupported OpenGL 4.3

I too am looking to play Foundation on my Mac. I love my Mac and want to use it for everything I can, however some games still require windows to run. I like the city building aspect of Foundation and hope that you will upgrade Parallels to allow OpenGL 4.3 to run.

A follow up to this. I have been using Parallels for many years now and this is the first major roadblock I've encountered. I just bought a new M4 max so I definitely don't want to invest in a separate PC. I am running some scientific mapping software that requires OpenGL 4.3 to run. Is there any beta out there that I could test for compatibility? My computer is a fairly robust one - M4 Max MacBook, 128 GB RAM and 4 TB HD.
