This just started today...while I do share the Mac folders from my Windows VM under Parallels 17.x, just today a folder icon "Mac Files" keeps popping up on my desktop. I do want to continue to share the folders, I just don't want to have the icon on my desktop. I right click and delete it, but in a little while it pops back! How can I stop this and remove it permanently while still being able to share the Mac folders? I have never seen this before. Thanks!
+1 to this. I give presentations from this VM and can't have extraneous icons on-screen while I do. Unless you want me using your product as a learning example of bad UX design? ("The desktop belongs to the user, not you.") Ha! Please and thank you--I think this is the first time I've ever had a nitpick with Parallels so very happy overall.
I am able to get by by doing Right click on the desktop, View, Hide desktop icons, as I like a clear desktop. But for anyone wanting *some* icons of their choice on the desktop, this won't work very well. Come on Parallels, Fix this!
I also don't like this icon, so after each refresh of Parallels tools I simply delete it and for me after that it remains gone. If you want access data on the Mac from your VM you can use the way via network, see the following screenshot from a Windows11 VM ...
Yes I did this, and it took care of it for me too! It's been a day since I last deleted it, and it has stayed deleted. Thanks for the tip @JessMira !
