    Hi all,

my problem is that i use KeePass in my virtual machine with Win10. After i copy sensible data to the clipboard, the clipboard will only be erased if the vm window is active at this moment. If i switch to the Mac host window the content of the clipboard is still there, because the vm window is not active at this moment (KeePass erase the copied content after a few seconds automatically via copy empty data to the clipboard).

Have anyone an idea how i can solve this problem?
If there would be an option or a way which says to Parallels that copy to clipboard is allowed from guest os even the vm window is not active, that would solve my issue i think.

    Iam using Parallels 11.

    Many thanks.

    Hi there,
my MacOS version is 10.12.6 Sierra. But this issue exists since i have installed PD11 2 yrs ago. So i am sure that this is issue is not related to the running MacOS version.
Do you have any idea what i can do to fix it?

Hi @MD_ , could you please go to Help menu of Parallels Desktop application and send us the technical data report via Send Technical Data... menu item? Then, post the number here.

    Hi again,
thanks for your reply. Yes i can, but in general: Could you explain how the copy to clipboard from a vm works or should work when the vm window is not active? In other words: If the vm window is not active (e.g. currently working with MacOS host system) and a program in the windows vm copies something into the clipboard, should the content be available in the host at this moment or not?

If not...then it is a feature and not a bug :(

No. It shouldn't. Ex: You are working in Mac with Text Edit and copying and pasting some text. If VM is not active and some program inside VM will modify the clipboard then your Text Edit clipboard will be randomly discarded by VM clipboard. That is why the clipboard synchronisation work with active VM only.

So this behaviour is not a bug, but it is problematically in the situation where you are using KeePass in the vm. :(
I unterstand the ex. but not the reason why this is implemented in this way. There is no random/uncontrolled clipboard operation in the vm, because i am responsible for my computer incl. my vm and what the vm copies into the clipboard o_O

Due to alexg response, is this still needed?

All in all, can you recommend any solution for the problem or have a tip for me how can I use KeePass with the delayed clipboard data cleaning?
    Many many thanks in advance
