Computer: iMac (Retina 5K) 4 GHz Intel Core i7 32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 AMD Radeon R9 M295X Mac Sierra Parallels for Mac Desktop 12 running Windows 10 VM 2 Part question I would appreciate any help I can get. I got parallels and a Windows license only to play Star Trek Online and it won't work I am super upset. Question 1. In the virtual machine settings it will only let me choose 8 of my 32 GB of ram to allocate to the VM. Is this all I can do or is the VM not reading something right? Question 2. During loading my game hangs on the load screen and I get a message, "Tessellation not supported, skipping domain shadowing." It also says I have an outdated video card. As this is not true, this leads me to think that there is a disconnect between Parallels/W10 and my Mac's video card. What I have tried in VM settings with a restart after each: Selecting Direct X 9 and 10 Selecting both available Hypervisors All 3 resolution options I do have it setup so Windows 10 and Parallels don't share anything. Please help me get this game up and running I would be so very thankful Best, Christopher
Hello Christopher- going through your records, I could see that you have purchased Parallels Desktop 12 standard edition. Assigning more than 8GB RAM is unique functionality to Parallels Desktop Pro edition. Please check this article. For resolving the game issue, please try below steps and let us know how it goes: 1. Reinstall Parallels tools 2. Try these article1 & article2 NOTE: Article1 is applicable for Parallels Desktop 12 also.
Swati, Nothing helped It was still hanging on the load screen. I just left in running to see what would happen and 20 mins later the game loaded. Each subsequent load happens fast now. I guess it just needed a really long time to load the first time and I assumed it was stuck. Not something that happened with the game's install on true Windows machines. Seems to be running fine and thank you for your help! Problem solved.....
