My SSD is running out of space and I would like to be able to store my VM snapshots on an external drive. Is this possible?

If not, my other idea is to duplicate my pvm file to another drive and then erase all my stored snapshots. If I ever need one then I would have a backup of that VM.

Ideally though I would be able to just store the snapshots on a different drive.

    Hi @DanMcG,
Unfortunately, it is not possible to store the snapshot in the external drive. You may backup the virtual machine as outlined in this article and if you would like to revert back to the snapshot, you may restore the backup to the internal Mac Hard drive and launch the virtual machine as running a virtual machine stored on external mass storage places limitations to some of the operations like creating, removing, reverting to snapshot, suspend or resume of the virtual machine.

You also merge the snapshot as outlined in this article to increase the Mac hard drive space once the backup is created.

    Hi Guna,

I wonder, is it possible to make external type of snapshot using prlctl snapshot command?
