With both guest and host running on 10.9, when I run disk utility in the guest, and do a verify disk on the volume (not the disk), I get a screen full of read errors.

The main message in the errors is that the header is damaged and needs minor repair. It also advises this is only possible with the recovery partition, and booting from a different volume. Is anyone else seeing this with the latest versions of parallels and Mac OS 10.9? I installed another 10.9 VM just to test and it appears the error is present there too.

The host OS shows no such errors.

Yes, I am seeing the same problem.

Happens only with Mavericks (Mac OS X 10.9.1). I found this in two of my VMs based on Mavericks. Thinking they were indeed bad, I just created a fresh 10.9.1 VM. Same problems reported, about "Volume Header needs minor repair" (see below for details). So all three VMs containing Mavericks report the disk problems.

I am not seeing this problem with my VM containing Mountain Lion. The Disk Utility.app > Verify reports that everything is fine.

My host machine reports no problems in Disk Utility > Verify.

I am using Parallels Desktop For Mac, Build 9.0.24172, Revision 951362.
Using a Mac mini Late 2012, with a newly replaced hard disk, and clean install of Mavericks 10.9.1 this week.

So this seems to be a Parallels problem. I don't know if this is a phantom issue or if it may mean trouble using a Mavericks VM with Parallels.

I have got same massage when I tied Disk Utility in my Guest OS (Mavericks).
I can not extend the virtual boot volume because of this error.
Do you have any solution for this problem ?

Hi NoboruN, try the below-mentioned steps:
    1. Locate the Virtual Machine file on Mac.
    2. Move the PVM file to any other location and start the Virtual Machine.
    3. Open Disk Utility in the guest OS and Run repair disk and check.

    Thank you for the reply.
Do you mean "Copy" the VM in step 2 ?
Which VM should I select at the start up on step 3 ?

  6. Hello NoboruN,
You can locate your VM by:
    Right-click Parallels icon in the Dock -> open Control Center -> right-click on your virtual machine and choose Show in Finder;

    Thank you for the reply.
I can locate my VM at step1.
On step2, should I just "Move" the VM or "Duplicate" it ?
On Step3, should I boot from the "Moved" VM at start up?

  8. Hello NoboruN,
Yes, you are right just move your PVM file to a different location and just double click on the PVM file.
