Specs: Win XP Pro guest on Mavericks running the latest Parallels build.

I normally open "My Computer" and can click on the "Shared Folders on '.host' (Z:)" drive but after upgrading to Mavericks, then 5 days later upgrading to Build 23350, I am no longer able to connect to my host's folders. The problem followed the Parallels Desktop upgrade, I think. This is the first time I've noticed it so maybe it's the first time I've tried to access the folder, to be honest...I'm not sure. I have completely uninstalled Parallels Tools, rebooted, re-installed, quit, launch, and re-start my Windows XP Professional VM but am unable to access my shared folders.

When I click on my host's folder, I get the following:

An error occurred while reconnecting Z: to \\.host\Shared Folders
VMware Shared Folders : The network is not present or not started.
The connection has not been restored.

I've checked my VM's internet connection (just for kicks) and Parallels VM Settings. "All disks" is selected under "Options" > "Sharing". If I try to add another location on my Mac by adding a new folder (my Documents) under "Custom Folders".

I rebooted the virtual machine. I still can't access the original folder, the newly created "Documents" folder isn't listed, and when I go to the VM Settings, it shows two shared folders...the original and the newly added "Documents" folder.

Anyone else having issues accessing folders on the host?

Exactly same for me! I got it after upgrade to the latest PD 23350. It seems to be the bug of 23350. I rolled back to the previous version and it works.

    Rollback procedure?

Glad I'm not the only one! This is driving me nuts. I have to email or use a USB key to transfer my files from my host to my VM. Host to VM communication is kind of a big deal for people using Windows as an extra workstation on their Mac.

Does the rollback procedure involve: 1.) making a backup of my VM, 2.) uninstalling parallels tools, 3.) uninstalling parallels desktop, 4.) installing some earlier version of desktop 9? Or, can I just rollback from the patch update to the previous version?

    Please fix this bug, Parallels.

    Rollback as I did:
    1. Find folder with VM. In my case it was "Parallels". Rename it to "Parall". Create new empty folder "Parallels". Probably it is not necessary but I did. Also it is faster than to back up VM itself.
    2. Used small application name "AppCleaner" to uninstall latest PD. You don need to uninstall Tools - it is inside of your VM. As soon as you delete VM - you delete tools.
    3. Install previous version. It will try to check for updates and install newest version. Simply reject.
    4. After install move (or rename folders back) VM from "Parall" to "Parallels" folder.
    5. Enjoy

    PARALLELS! FIX IT ASAP PLS.

Thanks. Glad you found my thread. Wish it had more traction. It's a very bothersome workaround for me.

Did you try the latest build 9.0.24172.? Does it fix the problem?
