Running WindowsXP under Parallels 9, Mavericks. In the VM when a dialog box pops up in almost every application the box is white and you can't see anything on it, e.g. buttons, messages, etc. It even happens with Alt+Tab-- a white box pops up but you can't see any icons. It will not paint properly until you either move the box or click/hover somewhere in it, at which time it will paint the area where you clicked. I thought it might be a video memory issue, so I increased the amount of video memory, but it hasn't changed. This is very annoying. I experience it on 2 machines, so its isn't machine specific. Anyone else experience this? Any ideas?
I am having this exact same issue with PD9 and Windows 7 x64 as Guest OS. The latest update did not solve this issue. It only occurs when in Coherence. One fix suggested in the past was the make sure 3D acceleration was enabled. This, unfortunately, had no effect. The current workaround is to just not run in Coherence. This is not a fix and the customer would really prefer to use Coherence.
When I posted that message I had 2 machines running PD9 with WindowsXP, both having that issue. There were other weird display problems as well in coherence, such as the top bar of windows apps being stuck under the top menu bar, etc., and alt-tab and cmd+tab operating inconsistently. So I bought a paid support session on one of the machines. After quite a while the technician decided that the VM was somehow corrupt and ended up saving my current vm file, creating a new vm, and then importing everything into the new vm. The new vm worked fine and did not exhibit those behaviors. I'm not sure whether that was all he did, and I have not yet done it myself on the other machine, which I don't use as much, so I don't know if there is anything else he did besides that. (BTW, the VM file on machine 2 started as a copy from machine 1, so if the VM was corrupt it came from that copy.) I was trying to follow everything he was doing and I asked questions, but there was a slight language barrier so I'm not positive there aren't other steps. There's no reason not to try it, however. Worst case you duplicate your VM and end up exactly where you started. It did fix those problems, so give it a try and see what happens. Let me know, and if it doesn't work I'll try to research the support case# and see if I can find out what other steps are necessary. FYI, even with those problems fixed, there are times when I switch to full screen mode. If I have multiple instances of windows apps open and am navigating among them as well as with multiple instances of Mac apps, navigating in coherence is more difficult. But for normal use coherence is preferable and this did fix the issue on the first machine. HTH
