Hello, I am getting one strange error message when i tried to access the control panel either Admin or user. the message is as below:- ----------------- The file index.php is part of Plesk distribution. It cannot be run outside of Plesk environment. ----------------- Could any1 please help me out to fix this problem. Note:- I am using Plesk for windows 8.3 with the lastest updates. Thanks Saeed
Its Plesk 8.3 not 8.2 I got a fix over here http://kb.parallels.com/en/1339 but now i have messed up with the license key here is the new error now --------------------- ERROR: Exception Cannot find a key for product "Plesk" 0: C:\Program Files\SWsoft\Plesk\admin\auto_prepend\auth.php3:40 iskeyprop(string 'demo') 1: C:\Program Files\SWsoft\Plesk\admin\auto_prepend\auth.php3:40 --------------------- Hoping to get a fix how can we set the default license key PLSK.00000000.0000 for Plesk 8.3 Please please help me out from this situation. Same issue, we are also getting this The file index.php is part of Plesk distribution. It cannot be run outside of Plesk environment. No upgrading were done on our system. We are running version 8.6 in this container. Have check the following. We are getting a error from a client windows vps. Checking google and related forums, much of which is related to upgrades (which is not this case). Also seen one which mentioned to check configurations in IIS which was looked at and ok. Have also checked and compared working vps containers to this one, and it all seems ok. Have checked disk resources and also looks ok. Websites are not down, just plesk control panel accessibility. We have run the plesk reconfigurator and seen no errors being reported as such. We also restarted the container just in case it may need to re-initialise something but didnt help either. Please help.

This is what we did to rectify the issue, - we had to reinstall, control panel, add remove program, modify Plesk, not changing anything, just go through the motion to let it reconfigure/reinstall - if your PHP environment in Plesk is messed up due to php.ini files not being correct then try to find and copy two php.ini files from working system as replacement. - once php is working and fixed but getting [Cannot find a key for product "Plesk"] error instead. So, at least the encrypted/encoded php scripts now runs, but plesk licence key is missing - locate your original plesk licence key, use command line keymng.exe to install the key [ this is an old and outdated key but at least the error is gone ] - you should then be able to see login screen, login with admin account, Plesk will prompt for update of expired key, retrieve new key and done.
Error caused by pipes I believe the error is caused by wrong database provider. I have MSSQL-2000 server and I m using TCP/IP to connect, while Control-Panel is trying to use named-pipes... get_config_string failed: PRODUCT_DATA_D: The system cannot find the file specified. (Error code 2) at Unable to connect to pipe \\.\pipe\psapipe Any idea how to make Control-Panel reconnect to the existing MSSQL database ? by command line .
So I had this same problem. I have a Virtual Dedicated server with my hosting company running Windows 2003 Server and Pleask 8.6. 1.) To fix my problem I went to Start --> All Programs --> Parallels --> Plesk --> Plesk Reconfigurator. 2.) Select Repair Plesk Installation and check all the buttons. 3.) Clicked the Check button. Fired up Plesk and got the login page. So not too bad in my case. Dont you love it when computers do weird things and you haven't even touched them. I am glad the tool fixed it. I hate when the solution involves something that I have to change in the registry.

I got this working by removing the IniFilePath entry for multiple PHP entries from the Windows registry. eg: keep only the latest one : x:\Program Files\Parallels\Plesk\Additional\PleskPHP53\ Remove any others listed there.. restart the server & you'd be good
Thanks for the feedback. The client hired another server and we just ended up not being migrated using the information.
