I've been trying to get my open office files on the windows VM to open over on the mac side. I can right click and "Open on mac" and everything works fine, but I'd really like to just double-click.

Everything I read says I should be able to set the default program via an 'open with.' But Open office isn't on the list of installed applications.

    • Tried reinstalling Parallels tools. No Dice.
    • Tried isolating mac, then reinstalling, as per this thread. No Dice.
    • Tried many combinations of reboots and reinstalls, all with no results.

Is there just something about open office that is incompatable? Other applications, such as adobe reader, worked with no heartache, or even effort.

    I'm at a loss.

    Parallels build 8.0.18483
    OSX 10.8.3
    Windows 7 Pro

I have the same problem, it seems Parallels Desktop 8 or 9 doesn't detect OpenOffice as a valid app to link it to the Parallels Desktop Shared folder in the windows vm.

    Did you find any solution?

Sadly, no. I've just gotten used to "Open on Mac."

    Sorry.

    Hello,
I have the same Problem on Parallels 10.1.4.(28883). None of the Mac applications are visible in the "Shared applications folder". None of the suggested procedures helped:
    • Checking and proceeding according this threat http://kb.parallels.com/en/121008
    • Deinstalling and reinstalling Parallels Tools in multiple ways
    • Isolating VM from Mac and back
"Open on Mac" works fine but is annoying. Is there a way to manually bring one application (I only would need "Preview") into the shared applications folder?
    Thanks and best regards
