I have 2 macs, 3 Parallels licenses (2-7, 1-8), and 2 versions of windows. Each mac runs mountain lion and currently running Parallels 7 without issue. Which mac and would see the greatest boost in performance? MacBook (2009 w 4gig): currently running Parallels 7 and XP Mac Mini (2011 w 8gig): currently running Parallels 7 and win7 Which mac would you install Parallels 8? Thanks!
Why? * Neither mac model can assign more than 8 GB to a VM (Parallels 8 now allows up to to 16 GB per VM, Parallels 7 only 8 GB). * Neither mac model has at 1 GB or more of graphic memory (Parallels 8 can assign up to 1 GB of graphic memory to a VM) * Neither mac has Windows 8 (Parallels 8 has better support for it) * Neither mac has a retina screen (Parallels 8 has support for retina macs) * Parallels 8 as better performance than Parallels 7, but this benefits both machines So, yeah, neither or both, because to these mac models and these Windows versions there is no specific benefit, so the question does not apply in both these machine's cases. robzr, you get your 6 posts by saying something totally irrelevant. Now that was a good post - well informed, thoughtful, detailed, probably exactly what the OP was hoping for, and will benefit from. To add to what Specimen said, Parallels 8 is supposedly faster, and I believe added seamless drag and drop and some other refinements. I'd say put it on the machine you interact with most often. Rob
