I purchased Parallels 7 for my MacBook Pro Intel Core i5, but I was running Parallels 3 on my old iMac which I just upgraded to Snow Leopard. Now, I'm not sure how I can get the info saved on my Parallels virtual machine from my iMac to my MacBook. I can't open Parallels 3, because it's not compatible with Snow Leopard. I can't install Parallels 7 on my iMac because it's an Intel Core Duo processor not Intel Core Duo 2. I can install Parallels 7 on my MacBook - but how do I transfer the information over to it (really all I need are my quickbooks files and dazzle (it's a postage program)).

    If it's not Bootcamp based:
Copy the .pvm package from ~/Documents/Parallels over to the other computer (to the same folder) and double-click on it, it will have to go thru an automatic conversion process.

I'm not sure if it's boot camp based. On my iMac, I originally had Boot Camp then switched to Parallels. Does that mean I have to migrate it differently?

    Yes, it's completely different.
If it's bootcamp based (meaning you can boot the mac natively into Windows), you can use Parallels Transport (google it) like you would on a PC to transfer it to Parallels on the other Mac.

It's not Boot Camp. I only boot the computer up into Mac and then there's an icon on the desktop to doubleclick on for Parallels.

Then copy the .pvm like I said on the first post and test it on the other mac.

I tried that and got a blue screen error. It says there is a remote desktop under the same name as my old one, but when I open it, it gets some error and I just get a blue screen.

I see .pvs files not .pvm files - will those still work?

Yes, .PVS was the file extension in PDM 3 (nowadays is .PVM).

But I dont' get it, when you mentioned the BSOD what were you referring to? Booting the old .PVM/S on PDM 7?

I've got a Parallels desktop loaded with Windows 7 (with Parallels 7). Now, I have a .pvs file on my old computer. Is there a way to just bring it over into the .pvm file that is currently on there? I only need a couple files from the old virtual machine (unfortunately it's in Parallels 3 and I upgraded to Snow Leopard and can't open it to just export those files). When I try to convert the .pvs file to a .pvm and open it, it says there's not enough room on my Mac HD - I have over 90GB available and the old .pvs is less than 20GB. I need help.
