Windows 7 new install on new MBP. I am having consistent network problems when using 'Shared'. I get messages of no internet connection or invalid IP configuration. My Mac connects just fine, and Mail and Safari are fine. If I set the VM to 'Bridged,' it appears to work OK. But I know this isn't the normal setting. Thoughts?
The link you provided is dead. The issue is still with me. In fact, the network connection is horrible, hit and miss. Is there anyone who has successfully connected to the internet using Parallels 6 and a bare bones install of Windows 7?
In the same boat! I share your pain - I'm having the same problem. New 2011 MBP, Parallels 6 and Windows 7 guest OS, everything patch current. The Mac OS has internet connectivity but there's just no connectivity within the Windows7 VM. I've tried all of the recommendations from the other threads on this topic without success. I've even tried re-booting into 32 bit mode to see if that made a difference --> no joy. I've also checked the configuration of my old MBP that was running Parallels 5 that does have network connection. It's absolutely identical from a Mac, Windows and Parallels configuration perspective. I've opened up a ticket with the Parallels support team earlier this week but have heard nothing back yet (#8176685). I'm pretty much stumped at this point and am basically watching the forums for any signs that the issue has been identified and some kind of fix is forthcoming.
Thanks, PD. Makes me feel a bit better to know its not just me. Hopefully both of us will find resolution shortly...
Hey guys. DeShawnB - Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, nothing here has resolved my problem. My VM is set to a Shared connection. In debugging, I've tried using the other connection methods without success. The W7 Device Manager does not report any problem with the Parallels network adapter. The only message I get back from the Windows network troubleshooter is that the Local Area Connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration. Any other suggestions you can offer? Thanks in advance.
Never mind! Decided to delete and reinstall my VM. I believe that some software I'd installed for use with my company's VPN buggered my network adaptors. Everything seems to be running smoothly now so I'll say go ahead and close out my ticket. Cheers,
No change for me. Is there a way to get a refund for Parallels. If I can't use the network, the software is useless, obviously. This is one of two big problems for me. I now have almost a TB of backups just of the VM, as noted in another thread.
