I just installed Parallels 6, and I keep receiving this error message. Unable to connect to Parallels Service. Make sure that the prl_disp_service process is active and it is not blocked by Firewall. For details, please refer to http://kb.parallels.com/8089. If the problem persists, contact the Parallels support team for assistance. I sent in an error report, and the ID is 7180238. How can I fix this?
Same Problem. Tried to reinstall a couple times. Each time it works until I reboot, then never again. Also, I've got Mozy installed and it seemed to have killed Mozy (said a service was not running). Had to uninstall Parallels then reinstall Mozy to get that working again.
LaurenV, am I right saying that after installation Parallels Desktop worked fine for some time? Do you remember what you've been doing what PD starts showing error "unable to connect to dispatcher"? Also did you try to reinstall Parallels Desktop? advatis, psk628, problem reports from your side are also appreciated.
Cannot Launch Windows XP in Parallels Desktop 6 Today I installed Parallels Decktop 6 on my Macbook Pro. I cannot open Windows XP. All I get is a black screen. It tries very briefly to open so I took a screen shot of the screen before it 'blacked out' again and this is what it says: Parallels(R) VGA-Compatible BIOS Version 3.0.211.B9721 6.0.11828.615184 Tue, 02 Nov 2010 14:12:43 Copyright 1999-2010 Parallels Holdings, Ltd. and its affiliates. All rights reserved. 1024 MB physical memory installed SCSI controller is not installed. I had Parallels Desktop 5 installed previously on this machine but with a few problems however could get Virtual Machine to work so long as I chose to suspended rather than close out completely. I uninstalled and reinstalled on another machine, Mac Desktop 0S 10.5 with no problems at all and it runs really well. I requested a chat with a technician but we were disconnected after about an hour and before he could find the solution. My trouble ticket is #1050472 if there is someone from the Parallels Team who can help me. I desperately need to get this up and running as soon as possible. Anyone else with the same problem and having found the solution I would dearly love to hear from them.
I have a very similar problem. Parallels works great after the install. However, once I restart my Mac, I cannot launch Parallels untill I reinstall again because of the "Unable to connect o Parallels Service" problem I'm running: Mac OS X 10.6.4 on 2*X 2.66 Ghz 6-core machine with 8GB of RAM. Ryan
Cannot Launch Windows XP using Parallels Desktop 6 My problem has been resolved. A reinstall of Windows XP by an online chat technician in a remote session has completely solved the problem. This problem was not solved easily or quickly and was ongoing for a few days however the problem has been resolved and I am very appreciative to those technicians who were extremely patient, thorough and methodical in checking for all possible problems relating to the reason why I couldn't launch Windows XP using Parallels Desktop 6 on my Macbook Pro.
Thank you Ryan0009 for your comment however I think my problem was with Windows XP. I had no problems installing Parallels Desktop 6 however I couldn't launch my virtual machine i.e. Windows XP. I was never able to launch Windows XP using the Parallels Desktop 6 on my Macbook Pro. When I clicked the Parallels Desktop 6 icon on the dock a small window called 'Virtual Machines' would appear. When I clicked the button next to Windows XP to launch I would only get a 'black screen'. An attempt to resolve this problem a Parallels technician suggested a reinstall of Windows XP via remote session as I was unable to run the install disc in Parallels Desktop 6. Luckily for me this worked then I was able to reinstall my PC based MYOB which is the reason I required the virtual machine. If anyone is considering reinstalling their Windows please make sure disc and Key (Authenticity) number is available before proceeding.
It worked the day that I installed it. After I shut my computer down, it would not start the following day. I have sent in numerous error reports. Here is another ID for the one I just sent. 7262302.
Does anyone have a solution? I just uninstalled and reinstalled both Windows and Parallels. Still the same thing happens. If no technician has a solution to this problem, I would like to be redirected to find out how I can get a refund for Parallels since I am not able to use it.
Dear LaurenV, we suggest you to create a trouble ticket in our system, one of our engineers will be able to look into your problem and suggest a solution.

Unable to connect to parallels service parallels 6 Hi I just experienced the exact same problem as above I used Parallels 5 before and that worked well I installed Parallels 6 and it worked well until I rebooted my MacBook Pro - then I get the the error message "unable to connect to parallels service" and the suggestions to solve the problem Make sure that the prl_disp_service process is active and it is not blocked by Firewall. For details, please refer to http://kb.parallels.com/8089. If the problem persists, contact the Parallels support team for assistance. Does not work. When I try " sudo launchctl start com.parallels.desktop.launchdaemon" the reply is that there is no such service to start Any ideas?
I get the same error - uninstall, install, works for the first time - convert VMware image, works, shut down - nothing works - cant even start Parallels 6..
I have the same problem with Parallels 5 - there is no way to start it. There was no update before or any system changes. Report-ID is 7801438
Reinstallation works - for one reboot I also report no such service. I've tried following the instructions above, and I've reinstalled a number of times, and it works, until I reboot, and then same thing. No launchdaemon service installed - nothing to start. I've submitted a problem report: The problem report was successfully sent with id: 8768541 Thanks
Unable to connect to parallels service with version 6 Please see my earlier posting: the "Repair Disk Permissions" seemed to correct a multitude of problems but not this one. I rebooted afterwards and I'm still getting the "Unable" error. So, apparently, the Parallels Team is stumped on this one as well. Not a good sign for their technical support and VERY disappointing. I'd like to get a refund! Jerrold S.
