After installing the latest update I can no longer get Windows 7 with Outlook 2007 to work through the shared networking VPN in OSX. Something in the new build made a change that I cannot track down. In the VPN I can ping the Exchange server internal IP address and it is there, but the problem is that Outlook looks for the servers "name" and not IP address. The address is 192.168.1.1 and that is available to Windows 7 as a connection through the shared OSX VPN that I always have open, but the name of the server (server.DOMAIN.local) is unreachable. This started imediately after installing the newest build 9344. I can work around with Bridged networking, but I prefer Shared networking for obvious reasons. What do I need to do to get Windows 7 (and Outlook 2007) to associate the server name with the internal IP address of 192.168.1.1? Thanks for any help anyone can give. Jeff

Could you please enable Verbose Logging via menu "Parallels Desktop -> Preferences -> General -> Use detailed log messages", then connect to VPN. Then try to ping from Windows some VPNd server by its name (or just access it).

Then click menu of Parallels Desktop "Help" -> "Report a Problem" and post a problem report (the description is not necessary) and post here its id.

After that disable the Verbose Logging.

This would be very helpful to understand the problem, because there really was change of DNS in order to improve support of VPN.

It is possible to workaround next way:
click Start->Run type notepad, right-click on appeared icon of Notepad and choose "Run as Administrator".

    open the file c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

    and add in it line

    192.168.1.1 server.DOMAIN.local

I think my problem is related

I installed the new build yesterday. I have to open Illustrator CS files from the Mac (iMac 24 OS10.5) into Corel Draw on my Virtual Windows XP machine. I can open the files and save them, but some type of an error is generated when the file is saved. I can't reopen the file nor can my freelance client open the files on their Windows PC in Corel Draw. I can still open all of the files I previously converted, but any new files are generating an error.

I am in a real bind here.

Likely not. The topic's problem is about VirtualPrivateNetwork..

Your issue is likely related to SharedFolders

Okay. So, it is nice that you can delineate the topic, but do you have any explanation or can you at least point me in the right direction? I uninstalled the new build; reinstalled the original downloaded upgrade to v.5. I can now open the files correctly again.

So is there any update on this issue? I too was able to solve this by using a Bridged connection, but then at my local Starbucks, I cannot connect through Windows at all as their wifi hotspots see my one connection as two machines and kicks me off, regardless of the VPN issue!

Please help! Should I / Can I downgrade?

What is your problem with shared networking? If it is a problem with vpn, then please follow the steps:

    --

Enable Verbose Logging via menu "Parallels Desktop -> Preferences -> General -> Use detailed log messages", then connect to VPN.
