I downloaded PD5 yesterday (upgrading from PD4) and activated it this event. I was not asked to do anything to convert my PD4 XP VM. It just tried to start the VM and then crashed. I get the DOS screen stating that windows didn't start successfully and offering me Safe Mode, etc. I tried safe mode - same result. I have not successfully been able to start my XP VM since installing PD5.

Is your XP VM in bootcamp - P5 seems to not work with VM created from bootcamp'd windows installs. No clear indication from Parallels on a solution in this regard.

    Sol.

I don't know where you get this info but it's absolutely wrong. Of course PD 5.0 working with Windows installed into bootcamp. It's one of the primary product features.

.. as you well know there were many users with issues getting a bootcamped XP SP3 VM working with PArallels 5. A quick scan of this forum confirms such.

Yesterday however, a solution was posted - it's as simple as changing the name of the appleMNT.sys file sin windows\system32\drivers\ to OldAppleMNT.sys and then rebooting to Mac OS. Worked for me.
