Hi im sixteen years old and have just used parallel. Now i found that parallel is not suitable for gaming so i want to use boot camp but keep parallel. The problem is i cant partition my HD, cant move one or more files.... So i am now using time machine to back up my whole com and hopefully be right as it was. Now the problem is, i heard if i reformat my mac so i can install partition, my windows applications will be deleted [ parallel desktop] is there any way for me to keep my windows files so i don't have to reinstall when i reformat my HD? Please post a guide thx since im quite not computer friendly. Problems will time machine back up all my files after i reformat??? how do i add in all the files??? can i keep parallel desktop files??? and how? Thx For Ur Help!
There are so many questions in your post - i can try to help you with some of them. 1. Please, call the product right - it's "Parallels Desktop" aka "PD", not "parallel", etc. 2. PD allowes you to create a "virtual machine" - it has a very small set of files. Usually it is one "*.pvm" bundle - something that you can find in your Documents/Parallels folder. If you want to fully backup your Windows - backup that folder. 3. Boot Camp usage is slightly different. In case of Boot Camp all you files live on the separate "part" of HDD called "partition". You can use it with PD or can boot there directly (usually by holding OPTION key on Mac startup) 4. Time Machine normally backs up all your data, including PD files - so you should be able to restore everything using Time Machine (in case it was really backed up). Hope i've got your question right and this help, Regards, Max
So if i backed up everything on my HD with time machine, i shld hav all my files in windows after i format my HD and use my data from time machine??
Yes. If you've properly backed up all your files with Time Machine - all your Windows files will be saved as well.
