So, I'm using Feed Demon in my Windows XP guest OS in Parallels and I'd like web links to open in Firefox on Mac.

Following the instructions in this thread, I got it to work: http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=13315

But then I installed Firefox on Windows (which I needed for another reason -- because the clipboard can't share image data between guest and host and I have Photoshop for Windows only and need to copy in web site screenshots taken with a Firefox extension) it stopped working. Now links open in Firefox on WINDOWS, even though I have my Parellels preferences set to open web links on the Mac.

So my question: how do I get the links to open in Firefox on Mac instead of Windows?

    Thanks!

Please check Parallels Desktop -Preferences - General -Shared Web applications, check that webpages are to selected to opened in Mac OS

    John,

    Thanks for the reply.

Yep, it's checked. Everything was working fine until I installed Firefox on my Windows guest OS. Now that Firefox is on both Mac OS X and Windows I am running into the issue and links in Windows will only open in Firefox in Windows. I'm sure I uninstalled Firefox on Windows everything would work again -- unfortunately, I need Firefox on both platforms.

    Try following

    1. in Applications/Utilities/Terminal
    defaults write com.parallels.Parallels "Parallels.MainApp.Default 'http' App" org.mozilla.firefox
    defaults write com.parallels.Parallels "Parallels.MainApp.Default 'https' App" org.mozilla.firefox

Then what? This didn't do anything for me.

I'm in the same boat as the OP since installing Firefox 3 on Windows (already had a previous version prior to getting Parallels, and everything was cool till the upgrade).
